How to Wear Fragrance, Answered

The questions everyone asks about applying, layering, storing, and traveling with perfume — answered by Studio Ready.

How do I apply fragrance correctly?

Apply as desired to the wrists and neck — the pulse points, where warmth diffuses the scent. Do not rub your wrists together; friction breaks down the top notes. Let it dry on skin.

How many sprays of perfume should I use?

Two to four of an eau de parfum, at the wrists and neck. An eau de parfum is concentrated; it should be discovered at close range, not announced across the room. With movement and heat it will carry further than you think.

Do you spray perfume on the body or on clothes?

Skin. Fragrance is composed to develop with your body's warmth and chemistry — on fabric it stays flat and can stain. If you like scent on clothing, mist the air and walk through it.

Is it okay to wear perfume every day?

Yes. A daily fragrance becomes part of how people know you. Rotate two or three if you like variety, or commit to one and let it become a signature.

What is a signature scent?

One fragrance worn so consistently it becomes yours. The best signatures meld with your natural chemistry rather than covering it — the same bottle smells different on everyone, and that difference is the signature.

How do I pick a first perfume?

Test on skin, never on paper. Wear one fragrance for a full day and judge after the first hour, once the heart and base notes have developed. A discovery set is the disciplined way in — seven pocket-sized Eaux de Parfum, one worn per day, and the set's full value may be redeemed against a full-size bottle within thirty days.

How can I make fragrance last longer?

Moisturized skin holds scent longest. Apply over a Body Oil, and exfoliate first so the fragrance lands clean — this is the logic of layering a scent family rather than wearing perfume alone.

How do I know if I put on too much?

If you can smell it constantly an hour later, others could smell you arrive a room away. Your nose adapts to your own fragrance within minutes — trust the count (two to four sprays), not your nose.

How should I store perfume?

Away from sunlight, heat, and humidity — a drawer or closet shelf, not the bathroom windowsill. Kept cool and dark, an unopened eau de parfum holds for years; opened, expect two to three years at full fidelity.

Can perfume expire or go bad?

Eventually. Oxidation dulls the top notes first — if the opening smells sour or vinegary and the color has darkened noticeably, it has turned. Proper storage delays this by years.

Will TSA take my perfume? What is the 3-1-1 rule?

Carry-on liquids must be in containers of 3.4 fl oz (100 mL) or less, all fitting in one quart-size bag, one bag per passenger. A standard 50 mL eau de parfum flies carry-on without issue; pocket-sized minis and samples are made for it. Full bottles over 100 mL go in checked luggage, well padded.
